It’s embarrassing when you can’t live like everyone else due to missing teeth. We often take chewing regular foods and speaking normally for granted until the dentist says they have to pull 1 or all of our teeth.

Or when you rely on denture adhesive to get you through a family function or work meeting.

Oral experts often recommend dentures and implants as solutions to give your brilliant smile and life back.

However, you may not know how much they cost and what long-term maintenance is involved. It’s also possible you’ve never heard of implants.

Regardless, it doesn’t make sense spending thousands on a dental solution that leaves you feeling hopeless.

Take a look at the pros and cons of dentures and implants, along with the specifics of each. That way, you can make the right choice and have peace of mind the next time you see family or coworkers.

What are dentures?

Most people have heard of dentures, which are a set of false teeth you place inside the mouth. Replacing missing teeth, they help you retain normalcy as you eat, play, and enjoy life.

And partial dentures compensate the void of several missing teeth instead of the entire upper and lower regions.

Dental offices in Arizona carry partial and full dentures that can replace some or all your teeth.

However, most people complain they don’t feel like existing teeth and give you a mouth full of ugly gums to see in the mirror when you take them out to clean.

A dental expert takes an accurate mold of your teeth with advanced 3-D technology. This creates the perfect fit for custom dentures and does not cause any pain (except for removal of damaged teeth beforehand).

What are implants?

Dental implants may not be an oral health solution you’ve heard of if you’ve grown up only knowing about dentures. They are permanent tooth replicas that match your current set and can last the rest of your lifetime.

A dental expert first drills an implant into the jawbone and allows your facial structure to heal. Then, they attach a titanium abutment to the implant as the site for the tooth replica (known as a crown).

Initial pushback against implants comes from being more expensive than dentures. However, patients marvel at how they feel and chew like normal teeth without the fear of them falling out.

Pros & Cons of Dentures & Implants

Overall, dentures and dental implants have pros and cons that determine whether you should get one over the other.

Our team understands you may be concerned about budget, especially with procedures and upfront costs. But we encourage you to factor in future maintenance, durability, and other factors that drive up the price.

The best dental solutions consider your lifelong oral health and preventive work at an affordable cost.

Dentures Implants
Deteriorates jawbone structure and face Protects remaining jawbone structure and face
Don’t feel like real teeth Perform and feel like regular teeth
Create discomfort by slipping and moving around Attached to jaw; comfortable fit
Most need adhesives and creams Adhesives and creams not needed
Restrict normal chewing Restores normal chewing
May need to remake or reline Last a lifetime
Remove for daily cleaning Regular hygiene care
Less expensive More expensive

Maintenance of Implants vs. Dentures

The great news about implant maintenance is you won’t have to do anything different from your regular teeth. Simply floss, brush, and rinse with mouthwash to keep a beautiful smile.

We also recommend getting 6-month to yearly check-ups with a dental professional to ensure your overall oral health is progressing.

Taking proper care of your natural teeth or dental implants and dentures is a sure-fire way to prevent gum disease and future tooth loss.

However, you must complete a daily regiment with dentures to ensure they stay clean from bacteria and germs. Soaking them in a cleaning solution overnight and brushing them after you eat are just a few of the tasks you’ll need to complete.

In addition, a relift is a process where the dentist adjusts your dentures according to how your mouth structure has changed over time. This is a future cost you’ll pay that doesn’t include the procedure and initial price.

Cost of Implants vs. Dentures

The price you pay for filling in missing teeth depends on the material denture and implant material. For example, a dentist charges much more for full, partial metal dentures.

A surgeon may also need to extract several decayed or damaged teeth from the denture patient before creating the mod. This operation adds thousands to the final bill when it’s all said and done.

On the other hand, implants generally run higher since they involve drilling into the jawbone. You may have additional work needed to finish the job, such as ridge modification where bone loss has occurred.

Let an Expert Help You Decide Between Dentures & Implants!

Deciding on your own between dentures and dental implants can be challenging, especially if you’re not an expert in oral health. Both options carry a lot of weight with your dental maintenance and checking account for years to come.

While dentures are removable, implants are permanent solutions that can last you up to 20 years. We believe every set of teeth (or lack of) is different and requires a unique oral health procedure.

Dr. Nathan Smith and our dental professionals understand the difference between each option and recommend them based on a patient’s medical history and current teeth.

You can trust our friendly team to give the best dental solution that fits your budget and saves you the most in the long run with preventative maintenance.

Do you suffer from missing teeth? You would not think that a missing tooth or two would affect you very much, but in reality, missing teeth can be detrimental to your oral health. Missing teeth may cause pain, speech issues, chewing problems, and further erosion of healthy teeth. Because of this, it is not a great idea to leave alone a toothless space in your mouth without seeking the advice of a trusted dental professional.

Likewise, if you lose multiple teeth in the same section of your mouth, the frustrations and difficulties may only increase. The good news is that there are many options available to replace these teeth and curb the issues you are facing.

At East Valley Dental Professionals, we have many options available for replacing missing teeth. If you are missing one or a section of teeth, the most common solution is the use of partial dentures. Keep reading to learn more about partial dentures to help decide if partial dentures are the right solution for you.

What are Partial Dentures?

Full dentures are the replacement answer when someone suffers from an injury or tooth decay and loses all or most of their teeth. But what happens when someone only loses a single tooth or a few teeth in sections? It is not reasonable to remove several healthy teeth to fit them with full dentures. Therefore, you need a partial solution, and that solution is partial dentures.

Partial dentures are dental pieces that fit in your mouth and attach to your natural teeth. These pieces have a solid, plastic base, usually pink in color, with replacement teeth attached. Depending on your unique circumstances, they are created to be removable and may be a long-term or short-term solution.

Types of Partial Dentures

There are two overall types of partial dentures: removable partial dentures and fixed dentures.

Removable partial dentures come in various options that differentiate by the material that makes the base.

  • Acrylic dentures are natural in appearance and cost-effective. However, many wearers admit this denture may feel bulky and difficult to manage.
  • Cast metal dentures are made with a metal framework and are the most popular partial denture option. With proper care and wear, you can use a single cast metal denture for years.
  • Flexible partial dentures are a hypoallergenic option made from thermoplastic. They are the most natural and comfortable option, though they are very expensive because they are not reparable if damaged.

Fixed dentures are also referred to as dental bridges or dental implants. Dentists intend this solution to be permanent and non-removable. They are an excellent remedy for those with healthy, existing teeth, gums, and bones to support the piece.

How Partial Dentures Work

Regardless of the type of partial denture, all sit on top of the gums. They attach to the remaining natural teeth through metal clasps that surround the teeth to secure them in place. Some wearers also opt to use dental adhesive for a more secure bond.

Partial dentures require healthy teeth in proper positions for attachment. Therefore, not everyone is a candidate for partial dentures. You should seek the advice of a trusted dentist to learn the best solution for you.

Replacing missing teeth with partial dentures allows you to maintain a beautiful and healthy smile while maintaining near-perfect functionality. Partial dentures are an excellent cosmetic option when replacing visible front teeth and will enable you to eat most regular foods without limiting you to eating soft foods.

Partial Dentures Cost

The cost of dentures runs anywhere from $800- $2500 and is entirely dependent upon your unique teeth situation and circumstance. The number of teeth you need replacing and the number of fitting appointments affect the price.

It also depends on the type of denture you select. Models that are easier to construct and less customizable tend to be less expensive, while models made of pricier materials that mimic a natural appearance are more costly.

Denture Care

The effort you take in caring for your dentures will extend the life and longevity of a single denture. First, ensure they have a proper fit in your mouth. Take notice of any sores or areas in the side of your mouth where the dentures rub in a painful way. Your dentist should be able to make adjustments to avoid this problem. A proper fit will ensure that you can wear your dentures for extended periods.

Dentures maintain their shape when they are kept moist, so you should keep them in a cup of solution or water overnight. Your dentist will instruct the proper method for your particular brand and style.

They also need to be brushed every day, just as your natural teeth. However, you should not clean them while they are attached to your mouth. For a proper brushing, remove the dentures and place them over a towel or soft surface to avoid damage if you accidentally drop them. Brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush or brush created for dentures.

Do not use regular toothpaste or household cleaners for cleaning since these are too harsh for the denture’s delicate nature. You should use a denture cleaner or paste that is made especially for dentures.

Losing teeth is just a natural part of the human experience as a child. But when you’re an adult, it can be embarrassing, painful, and frustrating. We don’t want your teeth to be a source of stress, and we want to do our best to help you feel great about your smile.

There are many custom-made tooth replacements for missing teeth and gums available to you, but how do you choose? As your local dentist, we can give you our expert advice and opinions, but the decision is ultimately in your hands.

We have put together an essential list of partial denture options available and their descriptions to avoid overwhelming you. Our goal is to educate you on the best modern treatments in the dental world so you can have a great smile.

What are Partial Dentures?

Full dentures replace missing teeth when you no longer have any or enough healthy existing teeth. However, partial dentures are your solution when you only need to replace a couple of missing teeth. Medical professionals designed them to work with your natural teeth, forming a complete and relaxed smile. Partial dentures can be a temporary solution, removable for the long term, or permanently fixed.

Removable Partial Dentures

Acrylic Partial Dentures

A pink acrylic base mimics the appearance of natural gums and is what makes up partial dentures. They can be fitted with one or more teeth and connect your existing smile with metal clasps for a secure fit. Patients who find this personalized fitting comfortable may wear acrylic partial dentures for years. They can adequately speak and eat as though they never had dental treatment in the first place.

The major downside to the acrylic base is that it is often bulky to eliminate the risk of breakage. Some may find its large surface to be more noticeable and less comfortable. The metal clasps are visible when talking for many and do not create the most natural look patients can achieve. Many patients use acrylic partial dentures as a cost-effective temporary option before settling on a permanent choice.

Cast Metal Partial Dentures

These are known as the most commonly used partial denture type. Unlike partials with a bulky acrylic base, this surface has an ultra-thin metal framework that holds the acrylic teeth in place. They require a metal clasp to attach in place, but patients can opt for precision attachments that are less visible and more aesthetically pleasing. Patients can wear cast metal partial dentures for many years without the need for replacement with proper care and hygiene.

Flexible Partial Dentures

For patients who are allergic to acrylic or are unhappy with the comfort or visibility of acrylic and cast metal dentures, flexible partial dentures are a perfect choice. This partial denture is a hypoallergenic, lightweight thermoplastic that molds uniquely over gum tissues. They are firmly secure with gum-colored clasps that blend in well and are less visible than typical metal clasps.

These seem like the obvious solution for missing teeth, but due to their design, they are unrepairable. Unfortunately, any break or crack cannot simply be fixed, often meaning a dentist much create a new set entirely.

Fixed Partial Dentures

Fixed Bridge

Fixed bridges are an excellent solution for replacing one or two teeth that sit next to healthy teeth. To create a bridge, dentists place crowns on the teeth sitting directly next to the open space and attach an acrylic or replacement tooth to the crowns on either end.

Fixed bridge solutions are considered permanent. They are cared for in the same way as existing teeth, though patients must pay special attention to the spaces under and around the bridge to avoid decay and build-up.

Dental Implant Bridge

An implant bridge may be the best solution if enough teeth are not present or if it has an ill-position for a fixed bridge. This solution is similar to the bridge mentioned above, but titanium implants support the bridge in the jaw rather than a mental clasp attaching to the surrounding teeth. In some cases, these implants may support a bridge that creates an entire arch.

Though an expensive solution upfront, a bridge implanted into healthy bone and gums can last a lifetime.

Making Your Partial Denture Selection

Knowing your partial denture options is only one step towards finding a solution. Many factors may affect the type of partial denture that will work best for you and your oral health. Therefore we highly recommend scheduling a consultation with a trusted dentist.

At East Valley Dental Professionals, we are passionate about prioritizing your dental care and helping you create a smile you are proud to wear. We offer consultations and free second opinions to ensure that you receive the best oral care for you. Although it is anticipated that children will lose teeth as they grow older, adults become frustrated when tooth loss occurs in their lives. For example, some may be involved in sporting accidents where teeth were knocked out or had teeth removed due to gum disease.

At EVDP, we know that sometimes losing a tooth is not preventable and believe that nobody should have to suffer from discomfort or embarrassment due to missing teeth. There are many ways to replace missing teeth.

For those who have missing teeth, finding the best solution for replacement can seem tricky because there are many choices available. Our mission at East Valley Dental Professionals is not simply to earn your business but to help educate you on all of your tooth replacement options so that you can smile confidently through life.

When experiencing loss of permanent teeth, many young patients opt for dental implants as a replacement but if your mouth is not suited for an implant, you are not comfortable with surgery, or you are looking for a short term solution, removable partial dentures may be a good option for you.

What are Flexible Partial Dentures?

Flexible Partial Dentures are designed to replace one or more missing teeth that are in proximity to each other. These work similarly to a full denture in that they are designed to properly fit your individual mouth and are removable. Unlike traditional dentures that are made with a rigid acrylic based material and cast metal clasps. Flexible partial dentures are made with more flexible materials such as nylon resin that better mimic the natural tissues of your mouth.

What are the Pros of Flexible Partial Dentures?

Invisibility

It is often said that flexible partial dentures are nearly invisible to the eye because they look so much like natural teeth. This is due to their translucent properties and absence of traditional metal clasps. Also, they are a very comfortable option, with most users not noticing a big difference between the denture and their teeth.

Durability

These flexible dentures are much more durable than typical dentures that have a tendency to break or crack. The flexibility lends to enduring heavier wear and tear, which makes them a great option for younger or more active patients.

Stain Resistant

The flexible materials do not contain BPA and are often used for patients who are allergic to acrylic or metal partial dentures. This material is resistant to stains and odors, making the cleaning and hygiene process much easier as well.

Affordability

Because you are only replacing a section of teeth, flexible partial dentures are less expensive than traditional dentures. Though, the cost differentiation between flexible or traditional partial dentures depends on the extent of the replacement.

What are the Cons of Flexible Partial Dentures?

Non-Permanent

Unfortunately, flexible partial dentures are not a permanent solution, especially for younger wearers. It is possible that you may wear them through your lifetime but replacements will need to be made throughout the years.

Non-Repairable

Flexible partial dentures cannot be repaired or modified unlike traditional dentures. In the case of damage, a new set will need to be made in a dental lab. With some types of traditional dentures, additional modifications can be made in the future such as adding a tooth or repairing a broken denture tooth.

Shifting

Because flexible partial dentures are removable and secured around remaining teeth, they are not immovable during wear. Some patients have noticed shifting during certain activities, unlike with the permanent solution of dental implants.

Incompatibility

Flexible partial dentures are not always an option for certain patients. If a significant amount of teeth are missing, or the remaining teeth are interspersed, there may not be good support for flexible partial dentures.

Your Choice for Tooth Replacement

At EVDP, we desire to give you a smile you are proud to show off. Are you in need of tooth replacement? We offer a free consultation to discuss your options and what we believe will be the best outcome for you.

Having loose dentures is not only uncomfortable and embarrassing. Over time, they even pose a risk to your oral health. Unfortunately for denture wearers, experiencing looseness is often part of the long term consequence of needing this type of dental care.

When looking for loose denture fixes, there are a variety of options. These include fast, in-office fixes all the way through permanent changes to your denture that can last several years.

For more information on dentures becoming loose and what to do about it, keep reading below.

Why Dentures Loosen

Dentures stay in place by gripping to the existing gum. Unfortunately, when the law no longer has to support natural teeth, bone loss becomes common. As bones deteriorate, so does the same and strength of the gumline, often retracting back into a smaller form. This process is called resorption and is the cause of many ill-fitting dentures.

While good oral health such as cleaning your dentures and removing them at night helps stave off resorption, it is not always possible— especially for those wearing full dentures.

Loose Dentures Cause Health Problems

Many individuals don’t know that wearing dentures that fit incorrectly can cause health problems in both the short and long term.

Loose dentures create friction at the gumline. While this is minor initially, the chronic inflammation of shifting plastic eventually creates sores. When left to persist, increased inflammation is not only painful but can raise your risk for oral cancer.

As such, when you start noticing dentures are loose, its best to schedule an appointment to talk to your dentist and fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Solutions to Loose Fitting Dentures

When you visit your dentist, you can discuss several possible solutions to your denture problem. The following are the most common.

New Denture Adhesive

The simplest, though most temporary, solution is getting a new deter adhesive. Using a paste with a firmer grip and better fill can buy you time while you assess your more permanent options.

Soft Relining

A soft relining is a quick in-office procedure that helps re-mold the inner lining of removable dentures. The process is done by cleaning the dentures and adding polymer to the try. The try is then replaced in the mouth to take shape, thus offering a soft, more secure fit.

Depending on the severity of loosening, this option can last from months to years providing individuals with a reliable and affordable solution.

Hard Relining

This type of relining is similar to its less permanent counterpart. However, unlike soft relining, newly molded dentures are sent out to a lab where hard denture plastic is used permanently to reshape the tray.

While this offers an overall more durable fit, the procedure is more expensive and time-consuming. Your dentures will also be unavailable to you for a couple days while they are at the lab— something which causes inconvenience for many.

Dental Implants

Finally, if you are eligible, your dentist may recommend switching to implant-supported dentures. Here, implant posts are installed into the jaw, giving your dentures an anchor.

The procedure is invasive and expensive but is one of the best ways of reducing denture adjustment. Unfortunately, not everyone is a candidate for this method as they may not have the bone health to fully support implant rods.

Mesa Dentists Help You Choose

When caught early, challenges with false teeth are often easy to fix and maintain. If you are not sure which method is best for your long-term oral health, speaking to a dentist can allow you to make an educated decision.

At EVDP, we want to make sure you and your family have access to the best dental care in Mesa, Arizona. Established in the 1980s, EVDP is a trusted community staple for many generations of clients and is a staple of the East Valley.

If you wear dentures, you may have already experienced the challenges of finding a denture adhesive that works. An effective adhesive is critical for all denture wearers so they can experience the full benefits of their dental appliances.

What Are Dentures?

If you have missing or damaged teeth, you may benefit from wearing dentures. There are two different types of dentures; partial and full. A denture is custom made in a laboratory and is comprised of a flesh colored base that fits over your gums and replacement teeth.

Partial dentures are used if there are a few teeth missing while full dentures are used when all the teeth are missing or have been removed. Dentures are removable and will never feel exactly like your natural teeth but can help restore your comfort and confidence in your smile.

Are Denture Adhesives Necessary?

Denture adhesives are designed to improve and secure the fit of your dentures. In theory, if your dentures fit perfectly and are aligned, you will not need a denture adhesive. However, because you can take your dentures out and your teeth and mouth can shift, a dental adhesive can come in handy. Dentures need to be cleaned daily and should be removed every night for sleeping. If your teeth, bone or gums change in any way, your dentures may begin to feel loose. The right adhesive can give you a sense of security in knowing your dentures are going to stay exactly where you need them to.

Benefits to Denture Adhesives

When used correctly, there are some very important benefits to utilizing denture adhesives.

  1. They can help prevent food from becoming trapped between your teeth and your dentures. Food particles can contribute to cavities and other dental issues. By creating a tight seal between your teeth and dentures, you can effectively block any stray food particles from festering.
  2. They can help you devour delicious tough foods. By keeping your dentures in place, the right adhesive can give you the ability to chow down on your favorite foods, even if they are extra tough or chewy.
  3. They can increase your confidence. Dentures are a wonderful option for people with missing teeth, but only if you can feel confident that they will stay put. Chewing and speaking are important activities in a person’s day to day life and you should feel certain that your dentures will stay in place.

Adhesive Options

There are several different types of denture adhesives available.

  • Pastes: Dental pastes or denture adhesive creams are the most popular type of adhesive available. You apply a small, equally distributed portion of paste or cream onto the inside of your dentures. Benefits include the ease of application and the ability to apply to wet or dry dentures. The most common complaint with adhesive paste is its ability to ooze if you accidentally apply too much.
  • Powders: To use an adhesive powder you will want to clean your dentures and while they are slightly damp, apply a layer of powder as directed. Then, shake off any loose powder. Once the powder is in place, put your dentures in and briefly hold in place to help the adhesive attach. Powders can be slightly messier than pastes or pads but are still effective.
  • Pads: Also known as denture adhesive strips, pads are used by cutting the provided strips to the correct size and lying them over your dentures. Once the strips are attached, you can place your dentures in your mouth and the strips should help provide a strong grip. These generally receive good reviews but can be more expensive that the other two options.

Top Rated Denture Adhesives

If you have consulted with your dental professional and have decided that a dental adhesive would be a good tool for you to utilize; here are some top rated choices to consider.
Thoroughlyreviewed.com gives top marks to Secure Denture Bonding Cream by Dentek touting its ability to keep dentures in place and ease of application. Other honorable mentions include Poligrip denture cream and Fixodent Extra Hold Denture Adhesive Powder.
Noblerate.com also chimes in on the denture adhesive debate and agrees with Dentek’s Secure Denture Bonding Cream as their top choice. Cushiongrip Thermoplastic Denture Adhesive and Ezo Denture Cushions take their second and third spots respectively.

As you can see, there are a plethora of options to choose from. The most important considerations should be the comfort and correct application of the adhesive. So whether you prefer a cream, powder or strip, you should choose a method that you feel comfortable with and an application that works for you.

A Few Things To Consider

A word of caution, denture adhesives may contain zinc. Zinc is naturally occurring in the body, but can be harmful when a person is exposed to too much of it. If you are using your denture adhesive every day, you may want to seek out a zinc free adhesive, which are readily available. With that in mind, you should never use more adhesive than what is recommended. If your adhesive oozes over your dentures, you are applying too much.

Denture adhesives are designed to give you more confidence and a secure fit but have their limitations. Adhesives should never be a long term solution for ill-fitting dentures. Using dentures that do not fit can lead to bone loss and other problems over time. If you are suffering with dentures that don’t fit the way they should, consult with your dentist. While they may advise you to utilize an adhesive, you may also need to discuss relining your existing dentures or replacing them altogether.

If you are having trouble with your dentures or are unable to achieve the fit desire, your first step should be to consult with your dentist. There could be underlying dental issues that are causing you discomfort such as shifting teeth or something more serious. Don’t use denture adhesive to mask symptoms of a root problem. If your dental professional confirms that an adhesive is a viable option, make sure to use as directed and consult with your dental team if any complications arise.

If your dentures don’t give you the fit, comfort and flexibility you desire, call our office. Our team would be happy to take a look and help you achieve your best smile yet!

Those who wear dentures are likely to break them at some point. This problem is much more common than you may think. The American College of Prosthodontists reports that roughly 35 million Americans have no teeth, a condition called edentulous. Among these individuals, approximately 90% wear dentures. Another 178 million people in the U.S. are missing one or more teeth.

About Dentures

Dentures are essentially false teeth that are used in place of natural teeth that are missing. They are a less expensive alternative than dental implants, which are a more permanent option for installing false teeth. Dentures should be removed each day to be properly cleaned. Often, when dentures are removed, they become damaged.

Broken Dentures

The most commonly broken dentures are in the front of the upper row. Unfortunately, these are among the most visible teeth. Do-it-yourself denture repair is not intended to be a long-term solution. Attempts to fix your dentures at home should generally be avoided. It is possible that you may be in a position where getting to the dentist right away is not an option. In this situation, there are a couple of temporary options.

One problem with trying to fix your dentures yourself is that you may have an allergy to the materials used for the repair. Attempting to repair a badly damaged denture can potentially put you at risk for cuts, sores, or other problems.

For those who are missing teeth, dentures have been a popular solution for centuries. False teeth provide patients with the ability to eat comfortably and enjoy the smile they had before they lost their teeth. Over time, medical advances have created better-fitting, higher quality dentures, and the progress has continued with flexible partial dentures. These are models made of softer material that provide a more natural look and feel to those who need dentures.

Flexible partial dentures are a great option to consider if you are in need of false teeth for part or all of your mouth. Doctors can mold them to perfectly fit your mouth and they can be modeled for partial or full dentures. Speak to one of our dentists today to see if flexible partial dentures are right for you.

For decades, nearly all forms of dentures were made of rigid materials. Most dentures are comprised of metal materials and feature porcelain teeth. While these materials provided the functionality of easier eating, they did not look very natural and often didn’t feel natural, either. Over time, technology has advanced, making it easier for engineers to invent better options.

Today’s dentures feature a blend of metal, plastic and acrylic materials. These softer materials make for a more comfortable fit and a stronger bite. As technology has developed further, flexible partial dentures have now arrived. These models have a base made of softer nylon material, making for the easiest fit yet. Many patients say that flexible dentures feel much more comfortable and allow for a much more natural bite.

The benefits of flexible partial dentures are leaps and bounds better than traditional dentures. The newer technology and advanced design make them unique compared to the older styles of dentures. Some benefits include:

Easy adjustment
Hard dentures can be tough to get used to. Flexible models are made of a softer base, making it easier for you to adjust to the new feel. This allows for the feeling of natural teeth much faster.

Tighter grip
Traditional dentures require adhesive to hold them in place, but flexible partial dentures naturally hug the gum line so there is no need for extra adhesive or reapplying of adhesive on a regular basis. Many denture patients complain about the need for adhesive, which is not a problem for users of flexible models.

Clear material
Flexible dentures made of nylon material offer a clear gum line so your dentures look more natural compared to other rigid models. The material can hug the gum line tighter, and the clear material allows the natural gum color to shine through.

Quicker manufacturing
Due to the harder materials and extra craftsmanship, traditional dentures take longer to engineer and fix. With flexible partial dentures, your false teeth are ready quicker and can be repaired quicker, too.

Stronger construction
Due to their flexibility and nylon base, removable partial dentures are less susceptible to cracks and breaks, especially if dropped. This means you can worry less about breaking them easily, needing costly repairs and not having them available for days or weeks.

Easier chewing
Many denture patients complain about difficulty chewing and opening their mouth fully. Flexible partial dentures make it much easier to do both. The material is much more malleable, making it easy to maneuver your mouth more easily.

There is a wealth of benefits associated with flexible dentures. The only slight disadvantage that some patients report is that the material needs better cleaning than traditional denture material. Due to the flexible material and it’s closer adhesion to the gum line, flexible dentures tend to absorb more bacteria. They need to be regularly brushed and flossed on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness.

When it comes to choosing dentures, a flexible partial denture is the best choice for most patients. Speak to our dentist today to learn more about flexible partial dentures and how they can help you improve your smile.
